Anyone who knows me knows I am a city girl. So when I heard our photo shoot was in the country, WITH A BARN, I was a bit concerned. If I were a country girl, this is my kind of country… the cleanest barn I have ever seen (this week I learned what a pole barn is) with gorgeous horses and pretty landscaping. Beauty and peace as far the eye can see.
This is my idea of what country should be… and the perfect setting for our vintage wedding shoot. Wedding Planner Jenny Sligh of Lavender Hill Weddings and Events didn’t miss a single detail and photographers Mandie Haberman of Red Gecko Studio and Bobbi Peterson of The Salty Peanut captured every last detail of this amazing day beautifully.
Our bride is a vision in this strapless gown, with a touch of lace and a birdcage veil in keeping with the vintage feel. The flower belt adds a romantic touch–all from Vera’s House of Bridals. Tip: When doing vintage, add a touch of modern for interest, such as the bracelet and earrings from Lionette NY, sold exclusively (in the Madison area) at Barry Chic.
The pleating on the front of this bridesmaid dress, plus a flattering silhouette, equals a dress with sophistication and elegance from Vera’s House of Bridals. I love keeping the neckline bare on a strapless and sticking with statement earrings from Lionette NY at Barry Chic and bracelets.
A feathery headband and belt from James Coviello add texture to a gorgeous dress with rhinestone sleeves (and rhinestone embellishment at midsection covered by belt) from Middleton Dress Co. Don’t be afraid to combine colors and textures to add interest to an outfit. That is what makes fashion fun – – playfulness and creativity.
Let’s talk about shoes for a moment. I’m all about the shoes, and I don’t think I am alone in this. It is great to have some basic shoes, like a pair of nude patent leather pumps, in your closet. But I like to invest in shoes that have some special details that make a statement. The first two pairs showed here are from Boston Store and the last from Middleton Dress Co.
The wedding stationary from Sugar Pear fit the vintage music theme perfectly with a sheet music envelope flap and a treble clef featured on the invite.
The neutral, subdued color palette sets the tone for our vintage wedding tablescape, with gorgeous flowers from Alluring Blooms. How perfect are those antique pink roses and the white anemones with the black centers? Combined with the pretty flowers on the linens from Event Essentials… perfection. (And in case you were wondering, the treats on the table from Batch Bakehouse and Madison Sweets taste as good as they look!) With all the beautiful countryside in Wisconsin, there are plenty of places to hold your perfect vintage wedding. Let our team of experts help you plan your day, whether it be vintage, modern, or something in between.
